Most headlines are noise, a few are ordinary, and once in a while one genuinely changes what a company is worth. Sizing all three the same way quietly gives away most of the return, and today’s update is the engine learning to stop doing that.

Every tradable headline now gets a grade. A+, A, B or C, and the grade sets the size, an application of the same exponential bet sizing logic behind Lance Breitstein’s approach to risk. A B is a normal trade, exactly what this book has been running all along. An A doubles it. An A+ risks four times a B. A C gets half. Each grade is a fixed slice of the day’s risk budget, so the ladder scales with the account instead of drifting away from it as the account grows or shrinks.

Four layers build that grade, each answering a different question. Relevance asks whether the news actually matters for this specific company, and it also assigns the grade itself, because judging whether a headline is routine or genuinely rare is a reading problem, not a math problem, and belongs with the model built to read. Novelty asks whether this company has seen this kind of news recently, routine news gets sized down even when the grade underneath it reads high. Tone answers which way it points, long, short, or stand aside. And the market’s own vote sits over all three: if the volume on the signal bar doesn’t confirm an A+, it gets demoted. The tape has the last word, never the model.

A hard daily budget sits underneath all of it. Once the day’s risk is spent, the engine stops trading and keeps reading, every headline still gets recorded and studied, it simply doesn’t cost anything once the budget is gone. Bigger when it’s rare, smaller when it’s routine, nothing when the day is done, a discipline built into the system rather than left to a decision someone has to remember to make under pressure.

Novedad pregunta si esta empresa ha visto este tipo de noticia recientemente, la noticia rutinaria se reduce de tamaño incluso cuando la calificación de base se lee alta. Tono responde hacia dónde apunta, largo, corto, o quedarse fuera. Y el voto propio del mercado está por encima de las tres: si el volumen en la barra señal no confirma un A+, se degrada. Un presupuesto diario duro está debajo de todo esto. Una vez que se gasta el riesgo del día, el motor deja de operar y sigue leyendo, cada titular se sigue registrando y estudiando, simplemente no cuesta nada una vez que se acaba el presupuesto. Más grande cuando es raro, más pequeño cuando es rutinario, nada cuando el día terminó, una disciplina construida dentro del sistema en vez de dejada a una decisión que alguien tiene que recordar tomar bajo presión.
